Spicy Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies

These cookies are filled with delicious yet opposite flavors of sweet caramel and spicy cayenne pepper. As well as dark chocolate chips to even out the flavors.

They are rich, moist, and fluffy from an extra egg yolk, dark brown sugar, and bread flour, respectively.

Watch out for the spice, though! To tame the devilish flavor make sure to drink with a cold glass of milk!

Spicy Caramel Chocolate Chip Cookies

2 sticks unsalted butter, melted

2 1/4 cup bread flour

1 tsp coarse sea salt

1 tsp baking soda

1 tsp cayenne pepper

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1 cup dark brown sugar

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 egg

1 egg yolk

1 tsp vanilla extract

2 cups dark chocolate chips

1 batch homemade caramel (recipe here)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Whisk together flour, salt, baking soda, and cayenne.

Add cooled melted butter to the sugars and cream on medium for 3 minutes. Add egg, egg yolk, and vanilla. Mix until combined.

Incorporate the flour slowly into the mix. Stir in the chocolate chips and then the caramel. Chill dough in the fridge for 20 minutes.

Bake on parchment lined baking sheets for 8-10 minutes.
